Description

95 points Jasper Morris
"Clear mid yellow. So much energy here too. An impressively racy quality with plenty of weight, very Charmes in character, strong fruit, and then a crunch of acidity. A little saline touch yet also some of the more exotic side. Drink from 2026-2033."

94 points James Suckling
"A wonderfully mineral, sleek and focused Meursault with aromas of lemons, white pears, apricots, flint and some white pepper. Medium- to full-bodied, creamy but so bright, with chalky minerality coming through. Drink or hold."

94 points Tim Atkin
"This is such a pretty Meursault, starting out with lovely floral uplift and pear core juiciness. Smartly concentrated with good length and a light dusting of tingly tannins, this tastes very complete already. There are two parcels here, both toward the bottom. The Puligny side has very old vines and the Genevrières side has 50-year-old vines."

94 points Vinous
"The 2021 Meursault Les Charmes 1er Cru comes from a relatively large plot that I feel gives it an advantage this year. It has a fragrant bouquet with peach skin, grilled hazelnut and light orange rind scents that gain intensity in the glass. The palate is well balanced with fine weight on the entry. There's plenty of extract here, and a pleasant pithiness comes through toward the finish. This should drink well over the next 20 years."

93 points Decanter
"This delightful wine is typical of Meursault Charmes, with aromas of ripe apple, butter, and spice and a slightly fat, almost oily, texture. In the 2021 vintage, however, there is a beautiful acidity due to the conditions of the year: ‘balanced, fine, and elegant, as one wants a white to be’, according to Frédéric Barnier. The grapes come from a superb 1.20-hectare parcel in Charmes Dessus, acquired from Domaine Prieur-Brunet in 2017."
