Burgundy

Burgundy fascinates. She can confuse too. Understanding the wines of Burgundy claims, like the monks who have forged its reputation, patience and method. A veritable mosaic of terroirs, its vineyard stretches over 250 km from Auxerre to the gates of Lyon. Five great entities compose it from north to south: Auxerrois, with the famous Chablis; the Côte d'Or with its great red wines from the Côte de Nuits and its whites from the Côte de Beaune; the Chalonnais; Mâconnais and Beaujolais. With its diversity, the region counts on another peculiarity: the red wines of Burgundy are almost always from a single grape, the pinot noir - except in the Beaujolais where the gamay flourishes for the red wines -, the wines Burgundy whites come for their part almost exclusively from Chardonnay.
