"Full bottle 1.347 g. Bottled 2022. Mainly Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca and Sousão from old walled terraces. Foot-trodden in granite lagares for three to four days with careful temperature control, before the addition of brandy (aguadente) to stop its fermentation. The selected wines were aged in large oak tonels for 24 months before bottling in September 2022. TA 4.9 g/l, pH 3.9, RS 90 g/l.
Very deeply coloured: black core and purple rim. Gorgeously ripe and concentrated fruit that provides a contrast between dried-fruit sweetness and a rocky/savoury mineral character. Dense and quite closed initially but explodes in the glass as it opens on the day after opening. On the palate, that same lovely counterpoint between fruit sweetness and a dry, savoury smoky tannic finesse. Concentrated, deep and long with perfect freshness on the finish. Embryonic but already harmonious, power and finesse together. Seductive, concentrated and elegant. 18+/20 points. (JH)"
