Description
Jancis Robinson
"More intense and more citrusy on the nose than the Thalassitis. Smells riper too but still has the smell and taste of the sea. Intense, textured and has both a creaminess and a grip. A standout in this tasting. Salty finish. 17.5/20 points. (JH)"
Vinous Reverie Notes
One of the pioneers of the modern Greek wine revolution, Gai’a Estate (pronounced Yay-ya) was established in 1994 by Leon Karatsalos and winemaker Yiannis Paraskevopoulos. Their mission was to capture the best that Greece’s indigenous grapes have to offer by merging traditional viticultural and production methods with innovative techniques. The estate is named after “Mother Earth,” in honor of the unique terroir that gives birth to these world-class wines. Tasting Notes: The citrus aromas of the Assyrtiko grapes combined with the floral aromas of the acacia wood and the vanilla of the oak result to a wine with a highly complex aromatic profile. Minerality and well-balanced acidity give depth and longevity.
