"More backward, concentrated and closed, yet just loaded with potential, the 2015 Ermitage Le Reverdy is—I suspect— the finest white I’ve tasted from this estate. Coming from the Beaume and le Méal lieux-dits and an even split of Marsanne and Roussanne, brought up in a mix of stainless steel and demi-muids, it has full-bodied richness, a liqueur of rocks-like aromatic profile, integrated acidity and sensational purity. It will have two decades or more of life. The quality (and number of cuvées) from this estate continues to soar, and this is easily the finest lineup up of wines I’ve tasted from this team."

"Also terrific, the tiny production 2016 Ermitage Le Reverdy Blanc is a blend of 80% Marsanne and 20% Roussanne brought up in demi-muids. It gives up more honeyed marmalade, wood smoke, caramelized citrus and crushed rocks aromatics. Rich, unctuous and concentrated on the palate, with gorgeous purity, it has building structure, and a great, great finish. It’s up with the crème de la crème of the vintage and should not be missed. Give bottles a year or so and enjoy over the following two decades."

"Rich yet refined, with creamed yellow apple, white peach and melon flavors supported by bright honeysuckle, chamomile and acacia notes. Lush and rounded along the edges, but with an inner freshness that carries this easily through the finish. Marsanne and Roussanne."

Vinous Reverie Notes
Blend: 50% Marsanne, 50% Roussanne. The vines are about 30 years old. Soil: A wine is produced from two plots: les Beaumes (limestone and alluvial soils) and le Meal (terraces of rounded pebbles). South, south-east exposure. Tasting Notes: Bright, golden straw core. Aromas of ripe fruits (yellow peaches, apricots), toast. Full-bodied, rich and complex. Very long lasting wine. Aromas of peaches, cinnamon, toast.
