Description
95 points Tim Atkin, MW
"Near the village on the northern side [of Rugiens] and on the lower portion of the slope, this is a very fine Rugiens. Its heady aromas start with baked red plums and savory spices before its palate broadens into wild berries and crushed evergreen branches. The integrated acidity and sculpted tannin are deftly integrated, offering support without any hint of dryness."
94+ points John Gilman, View from the Cellar
"The 2021 Domaine Voillot Rugiens is yet another outstanding and classical example of this great terroir. The bouquet is a shade deeper and more complex than any of these other Pommard premier crus this year, wafting from the glass in a mix of red and black cherries, plums, smoked meats, bonfire, a complex foundation of minerality, a nice touch of spice, vanillin oak and a floral topnote redolent of violets. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied and properly structured, with a great core of fruit, fine focus, ripe tannins and a long, well-balanced and nascently complex finish. This is going to be a dynamite wine! 2037-2090."
92 points Allen Meadows, Burghound
"The slightly bigger and definitely more powerful flavors deliver fine length on the markedly mineral driven, moderately austere and quite serious finish."
