Description

92 points Wine Spectator
"An attractive, creamy version, appealing for its fine balance as well as its peachy fruit flavors of ripe apricot, peach, orange blossom and tangerine. A smoky undercurrent accents hints of candied orange peel and toffee, while finely honed acidity enlivens the wine, right through to the sea salt–tinged finish."

17/20 points Gault & Millau

** Hachette Guide
"The alliance, in 1985, of two families is at the origin of this domain led for more than twelve years in biodynamics: no less than 16 ha spread over nine different terroirs between Colmar and Eguisheim. The Rosenberg, or "hill of the Roses", a locality with clay-limestone soils, gave birth to this surprising cuvée by the intensity and finesse of its spicy aromas accompanied by notes of candied fruit. A palette that is found on the palate, in a rich, ample and full-bodied substance. The lingering finish is the signature of a racy wine full of promise, which will be at its best in three to five years."

Vinous Reverie Notes
This domaine of 16 ha located in the beautiful town of Wettolsheim was created by the marriage of two winemaking families in 1985. Genevieve Buecher and Francois Barmes have holdings in 9 different vineyards including three Grand Cru’s ( Steingrubler, Hengst, and Pfersigberg). The domain’s production was mostly sold to negotiants until 1990 when they began to bottle the wine from the estate for direct sales. Francois believes that wine should be made in the vineyard with minimal intervention in the winery. He seeks to obtain expression of each terroir, vintage, and variety in his wine. Since 1998 they have farmed the vineyards using biodynamic principles receiving certification from SIVCBD in 2002. Francois is convinced that this biodynamic system of farming improves the biology of the soil and hence improves the expression of site specific terroir in the grapes. A completely biodynamic estate producing all the major Alsatian varietals.
