Description
Jancis Robinson
"Tannat and Cabernet Sauvignon grown on a pebbly slope. Fermented for three to six weeks and aged for 12 to 14 months in barrique (80% new).
Very deep garnet-crimson. Colour right out to the rim. Intense nose with very light gaminess to add to the Cabernet family signature. Rather voluptuous – in fact very voluptuous! Only the light tannic bite on the end suggests this might be worth waiting for. Lovely freshness but sweet opulence too. I'll be very interested to see how and whether the Montus Prestige bottling trumps this. It seems quite open! And gorgeous. 17.5/20 points."
Vinous Reverie Notes
Located on steep slopes of fine clay and large pebbles from the Pyrénées, Château Montus has received the best from unique terroirs in the Southwest of France. A miracle took place in 1985 when this cuvée shook the rankings of the world's leading red wines. It instantly got worldwide recognition thanks to the Tannat grape variety. Dubbed “the Petrus of the Southwest” by several critics, Château Montus expresses all the qualities of these exceptional terroirs. Tasting Notes: Pleasant and deep wine, with discreet notes of red fruit coulis, fine tannins, mastered balance, elegance and persistence. Food Pairing: Can be served with beef ribs, lamb, duck breast, game, spicy Asian cuisine.
