Description
95 points Decanter
"Leeuwin Estate is investing heavily in Shiraz and it shows. New plantings, clones, whole-bunch ferments and bigger barrels produce a vibrant, mid-weight style with riffs of spicy szechuan, fragrant white pepper, clove and violet to the firm red currant and cherry core; contrapuntal, creamy blackberry and crunchy pomegranate lend tension and twang. Fine-grained tannins and subtle oak, fruit and fresh acidity assert its cooler climate credentials."
Jancis Robinson
"20% whole bunches. Bottled mid November 2020.
Very deep crimson. Leathery tannins and saline. Clever but youthful. Very polished. Dry end and very vigorous. More concentrated than the Siblings Shiraz and will surely have a longer life. 17++/20 points."
Vinous Reverie Notes
The “Art Series” represents Leeuwin’s most opulent & ageworthy wines from each vintage. The Art Series Shiraz labels exclusively feature the artworks of Australia’s Aboriginal artists, including artworks from a number of Aboriginal artists based in the remote and spectacular Western Australia Kimberley region. Variety: 94% Shiraz, 5% Malbec, 1% Viognier. Tasting Notes: Concentrated blueberries, mulberries and plums give density to a nose that also exhibits black cardamom, anise caramel and hickory. There is subtle lift with rose petals and violets offering further fragrance. Black and blue fruits dominate the palate with upfront weight and texture. Woven fruit layers meet subtle smokey oak creating a layered palate, laced with a finely balanced acid line.
