"Chocolate-covered strawberries, fresh coffee, licorice and savory spices characterize the nose of this wine. The dense and rich wine is forward and expressive on the palate, with loads of red fruit and ripe black fruits. The tannins add the needed structure to give this wine a long drinking window that will range from 2025–2035."

"Aromatic, with a nose of baking spices, citrus peel and violet, this medium- to full-bodied red displays flavors of pureed cherry and strawberry, dried thyme, tobacco and tarry smoke married tightly to supple tannins and lightly mouthwatering acidity. Give this time to open in the glass, or cellar short-term. Best from 2023 through 2030. 1,500 cases made, 100 cases imported."

Smells just like home-made damson jam, as it comes off the stove top, still thickly simmering. It's coconut and oak sawdust and mocha. There is the deeply comforting hug of hot chocolate and a delicately diaphanous sense of rose petals pressed into coffee-stained tissue paper. The tannins have a gently modulating effect on the plush, deep-pile, lavishly ample fruit, but they don't do anything more to define the wine than the book-lined walls of an old library define the deep embrace of the red-velvet armchair within their space. It's a rare 16.5% wine that manages to glide in with this kind of balance. A glorious, dangerously-difficult-to-resist wine. 17.5/20 points. (TC)"
