Description
Jancis Robinson
"Full bottle 1,603 g. 70% Meunier and 20% Chardonnay from Vallée de la Marne, 10% Meunier from Coteaux Campenoise. Base wine from 2019. Disgorged May 2023. Dosage 2 g/l.
A deep red-pink wine with a beautiful nose of plums and peonies and rich, throaty red fruit on the palate. Spicy, juicy and succulent. Rosehips, cranberries, cherries and cinnamon. Really gorgeous! This would be a stunning wine with roast duck or goose. 17.5/20 points. (TC)"
Vinous Reverie Notes
Laurent Lequart is a fourth-generation winemaker obsessed with his land and his grapes. He runs a family-owned estate in the village of Passy-Grigny, in the heart of the Marne Valley, and produces some absolutely stunning bubbles. The estate contains barely 10 hectares of vineyards, situated on a small variety of soils and exposures, but they all have one thing in common: a commitment to biodiversity and sustainability in the fields. Lequart holds both HVE (High Environmental Value) and VDC (a Champagne sustainability standard) certifications for their standards in the vineyard. The Vallee de la Marne sweeps from west to east, north of the Cote des Blancs and south of Montagne de Reims. This is Pinot country, with plenty of clay in the soils of Lequart’s vineyards, mixed with either sand or limestone, depending on the plot, suiting Meunier, especially. Blanche d’Andesyne Rose is an Extra Brut Champagne, meaning it’s given a very low dosage at disgorgement - only 2.5 grams of sugar per liter - so that the rich fruit typical of Meunier is balanced out by a crisp finish. It’s blended from 80% Meunier and 20% Chardonnay.
