Description
97 points James Suckling
"Close your eyes and forget the label to get a grand cru white Burgundy experience that’s totally contemporary. Very deep flint and oyster shell nose that gains a wonderful fresh pineapple character as it aerates. And that pulls you into this sensationally elegant white Montagny. What a fantastic tension between the candied lemon character and the super-minerally acidity. Great precision in the very long, focused finish. From biodynamically grown grapes. Drinkable now, but best from 2025."
Vinous Reverie Notes
The roots of Clos du Cellier aux Moines can be traced back 900+ years to the infamous Cistercian Monks that called Burgundy home. Phillippe Pascal after decades of as an executive at LVMH, working as CEO at the Moet Hennessy Group, decided to make Burgundy. In 2004 he purchased Cellier aux Moines, revitalized the operation and hired Marko Guillaume, whose resume includes stints at Arnoux-Lachaux and Domaine de la Romanée Conti. From vines planted in 1939 comes this glorious white burgundy that should not be missed.
