Description
93 points Wine Enthusiast
"Briny and brisk aromas of lemon peel, chalk and honeydew are very tight and bright on the nose of this single-vineyard expression from 1,700 feet in the mountains. The palate is very taut and grippy, offering flavors of lemon pith, sea salt and fine-grained oak as well as light vanilla on the finish."
92 Points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
"The 2018 Chardonnay Split Rail Vineyard comes from 20- to 30-year-old vines planted at 1,700 feet in elevation. It aged ten months in 15% new French oak. It has a fresh, bright nose with aromas of green apple, pear peel, baker’s yeast, crushed stone, fresh quince and touches of orange blossoms, hazelnuts and honey. The palate is light to medium-bodied, delicate but intense, smoothly walking the line between bright citrus, mineral and savory character, with addicting freshness and a long, textured finish."
Jancis Robinson
"Pale gold. Scents of lemon pith and white flowers. Flavours of lemon pith and lemon zest mix with grapefruit and a touch of vanilla. Excellent acidity and just the barest hint of wood that lingers in the finish. 17.5/20 points. (AY)"
