Description
Jancis Robinson
'Grapes sourced from various organic farmers across South Africa’s Western Cape. Whole-bunch pressed, fermented spontaneously and aged on the lees for four months. Most of the wine ferments and ages in stainless-steel tanks, with a portion in concrete eggs. Winemaker Barbara Melck. Screwcap. Certified organic (Ecocert).
Rich, though only 3.5 g/l of residual sugar, and with far more character than you would expect for the price. Toasty finish. VGV *very good value* 17/20 points."
Vinous Reverie Notes
Chenin blanc grapes are sourced from organic vineyards situated no further than 40km inland from the Atlantic Ocean. The vines are planted in sandy and decomposed granitic soils, and these granitic soils add to the flavor profile of the grapes and final wine. The grapes are bunch sorted and destemmed and then undergo natural fermentation in stainless steel tanks. After three months of ageing on the lees, the final wine is blended and bottled. Vegan. Tasting Notes: The bouquet of this wine is abundant with aromas of cling peaches, quince, ripe lemon, and delicate white florals. As you delve deeper, hints of golden delicious apple and a touch of pineapple emerge. On the palate, the apple and quince flavors take the forefront, complemented by a harmonious integration of acidity and fruit complexity, which lends the wine both length and balance. Although it is already delightful to drink, this wine has the potential to be enjoyed for the next two years.
