"The NV 50 Year White Port was bottled in April 2022 with 123 grams of residual sugar and a bar-top cork. Shockingly fresh for its age, this is also delicious, concentrated and impressively long on the finish. It has a lot of characteristics of an old Tawny, but a very fresh old Tawny. The acidity enlivens this, though, making it both lighter and brighter than a typical Tawny. It has a refreshing quality that is appealing to go with its complexity. There's also power and grip, but it always tastes great. The finish goes on forever. This is a great white."

"The wine's concentration is amazing, with density from the long wood aging. While it so intense, the Port also has impressive freshness even at this stage. Balanced and velvet, the wine is ready to drink."

Cask sample. Fermented in stainless steel with the skins. TA 5.48 g/l, pH 3.39, RS 127 g/l.
Deep orange-brown. Fabulous aroma that reminds me as much of madeira as of white port. Caramelised dried-orange peel, dried apricots, coffee, bitter orange, with a savoury umami edge to it and polished wood. So complex. So intense. Deep and long and powerful. Amazing concentration but – incredibly – nothing in excess. The flavour just goes on and on and the complexity unfolds in your mouth. Viscous but not heavy because it has excellent freshness to counteract the sweetness. Outstanding balance. It certainly doesn’t need any bottle-ageing but I can’t see why it won’t keep for a good many years in the bottle. 19.5/20 points. (JH)"
