Description
93 points James Suckling
"Complex aromas of blackcurrants, walnuts, mushrooms and cigar box follow through to a full body with fine, chewy tannins and a long, flavorful finish. Drinkable now, but better in 2021."
Vinous Reverie Notes
The Poggio al Tufo Cabernet Sauvignon comes from the Rompicollo vineyard in Pitigliano, a town near the Tuscan coast known for its volcanic soil which contains a high concentration of tufo, a particular type of volcanic rock. Tasting Notes: Deep ruby red in color, it has a broad, complex nose with aromas of blackberry preserve, black pepper, licorice, vanilla and balsamic herbs. On the palate it is mouth-filling, rich and full-bodied, with velvety tannins that are nicely integrated with a pleasing sensation of freshness. Food Pairing: Ideal with grilled meats, rich pasta dishes such as pappardelle with mushrooms or with a white meat sauce, and with moderately aged cheeses.
