Description

94 points Jeb Dunnuck
"The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Ambervale has plenty of classic Cabernet currant and cassis fruits as well as a complex underbelly of cedarwood, forest floor, tobacco, and violets. These all carry to a medium to full-bodied Cabernet Sauvignon with beautiful purity of fruit, ripe and certainly present tannins, and a solid spine of acidity that's going to keep this evolving nicely for 10-15 years."

94 points James Suckling
"Loads of black truffles and blackberries with some bark and pine-tree undertones. Some herbs, too. Full-bodied with juicy fruit and medium chewy tannins. Soft and juicy. Try after 2022."

93 points Vinous
"Opaque ruby. Smoke-accented cherry and cassis aromas are complemented by candied licorice, vanilla, and pipe tobacco flourishes. Smooth and broad on entry and then more taut in the mid-palate, offering concentrated dark fruit preserve, mocha and spicecake flavors and a hint of candied flowers. Closes on a cherry liqueur note, showing strong persistence and slowly building tannins."

Vinous Reverie Notes
Hailing from the Eden Valley, Tarrawatta embodies the remarkable quality found in the region where some of the world’s best red wines are grown. Part of the Barossa wine region in Australia, the higher-altitude Eden Valley produces wines of complexity, elegance with excellent aromatics from some of the world’s oldest vines. Consisting of 14 quality micro sites, the Ambervale vineyard of Tarrawatta is situated in northern Eden Valley with two of Australia’s most revered vineyards as close neighbors - Henschke’s Hill of Grace and Mount Elderstone.
