"Singed anise and juniper accents lead the way in this plush, ripe offering, with a set of warmed cassis, cherry paste and boysenberry pâte de fruit notes taking center stage and lasting through the graphite-laced finish. Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre."

"Buoyantly fruity yet spirited and fresh, this Grenache-dominant red (augmented by just 5% each of Syrah and Mourvèdre) is packed with juicy black-plum and blackberry flavors. It's luscious in texture yet accented by tangs of salt, crushed earth and sun-scorched garrigue. While supple in tannins, the wine is just starting to open. It's best to hold till 2023 and it should improve through 2035."

"Moving to the Crus, the 2019 Gigondas Vieilles Vignes boasts a saturated purple color as well as a terrific nose of crème de cassis and black raspberry fruit interwoven with lots of peppery garrigue, earthy mineral, and sandalwood aromas and flavors. Textured, medium to full-bodied, and balanced, this classic, spicy, character-filled Gigondas will benefit from short-term cellaring and have 10-15 years of overall longevity."
