Description
Jancis Robinson
"Full bottle 1,264 g. Fermented and aged in stainless steel.
It seems to me that varietal, unoaked Corvino is a wildly under-appreciated thing. If you love cherries, and cloves, and kicking autumn leaves and Turkish delight, the fragrance of cardamom, the sweet fun of roasting marshmallows and the gorgeous snap of toasted pistachios, you will definitely love this wine. The fruit bursts in, singing and whistling tunes. It zig-zags bright red acidity but it has a kindly softness too. An honest wine without a smudge of maquillage. A wine that is good for the soul. And it's insanely good from a deliciousness-to-price-per-sip ratio! VGV *very good value*. 17/20 points. (TC)"
Vinous Reverie Notes
100% Corvina. Type of Soils: Colognola ai Colli: medium-textured with a gravel sub-base. Mezzane di Sotto: sandy, silty with a lot of white skeletal limestone. "Scaia" (an Italian term used to describe the shapes of parmesan crumbs which is what the clay shard soil looks like in this vineyard) is made with 100% Corvina, one of the main grapes used in the production of Valpolicella and Amarone. Alcoholic fermentation is completed at controlled temperature in stainless steel. It undergoes natural malolactic fermentation and batonnage once a week until the end of malolactic fermentation and further aging in stainless steel.
