Chablis is the most famous white wine appellation in Burgundy. Made from the same grape variety as the other great Burgundian whites, the Chardonnay, the wines of Chablis derive from their terroir a typical character: combining the aromatic finesse (honey, flowers, linden, citrus) and the fat of the Chardonnay, the Chablis is distinguished by its minerality. The Chablis vineyard is divided into four appellations: Petit-Chablis (780 ha), Chablis (2,330 ha), Chablis Premier Cru (717 ha) and Chablis Grand Cru (100 ha).
