Description
Wine Enthusiast
"This bottling reflects the use of toasted oak, offering brûléed sugar, black cherry and crushed green herbs. From a steep hillside in a cool-climate area, it shows a purity of fruit and sense of place. Aerate it for an hour and drink now–2028."
Vinous Reverie Notes
Mendocino winery was hand-built without electricity by a father and four sons. The vineyards were first tilled before the tractor was invented. The first bottles were filled with hoses and corks pounded in with mallets. Together they built more than a winery, they built a legacy. Blend: 90% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Petite Verdot. Tasting Notes: Inky garnet in color, the 2021 True Grit Cabernet Sauvignon has warm earthy aromas mingled with ripe blackberry, cocoa, and hints of cigar box. The palate is full of rich brooding dark-fruit married with flavors of black cherry, baker's chocolate, and vanilla. A full-bodied wine with smooth tannins that carry through to a lightly spiced, toasty-oak finish with a kiss of bright cranberry."
