Description
95 points James Suckling
"A very concentrated Spatlese with a wonderful balance of ripeness and mineral freshness that enables it to stand above the bustle of the world and radiate beauty. Very long, refined finish. Everything aligns beautifully! Drink or hold."
92 points Falstaff
"Yeasty and balsamic-spicy on the nose, a lot of slate in the nose and more herbal than fruity aromas. Round and supple in the mouth, medium-weight in the extract, mature acidity, creamy sweetness."
Vinous Reverie Notes
In 1984, when he was just 20 years old, Markus Molitor took over the reins of the family-owned winery, which at the time spanned 7.5 acres. Despite his young age, he cultivated a clearly defined and ambitious vision: to give back to the wines of the Moselle valley their letters of nobility, thanks to the typical Rieslings faithful to the identity of their vineyard of origin (terroir) and to their extraordinary longevity. Meticulous work carried out in the vineyard and cellar - without any compromise - as well as an absolute respect for the grapes and the wine constitute his guidelines. He wants his wines to have structure and depth and that they reveal a beautiful freshness as well as a magnificent radiance, all characteristics typical of the wines of the Moselle valley and which allow them today to appear among the best notes from Robert Parker's guide. These wines are distinguished in 3 categories: White Capsule: dry white, Green Capsule: demi-sec Gold Capsule: sweet.
