Description

"The 2018 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Aluigi Campo ai Peri is a terrific follow up to the stellar 2016. Rich, deep and explosive, the Aluigi saturates the palate with dark fruit, leather, tobacco, spice, menthol and espresso notes. This ample, full-bodied Panzano Gran Selezione hits all the right notes. The marriage of elegance and pure power is compelling."

"The 2018 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Aluigi is layered and beautiful, with red cherry, medicinal herbs, dried flowers, and tomato leaf. The palate is medium to full-boded and pure, with a wonderful core of concentration as well as freshness of acidity and long and driving energy through the finish. This is the second vintage for Le Cinciole in the category of Gran Selezione, having not produced any in 2017. Though it is impressive now, it is fully structured and will need a few more years to show its full potential and unfurl. Drink 2025-2040."
Vinous Reverie Notes
Le Cinciole's vineyards are on the eastern, Chianti Mountain-facing side of the Panzano region; they're moderately high in altitude, with "cooler" southeastern aspects, with soils formed by weathered calcareous sandstone (Pietraforte). This area is known for wines of compact fruit and tannic structure, that are nevertheless elegantly delivered with a lifted vibrancy.
