Description
Vinous Reverie Notes
These are the great lords of the appellation. There are seven of them (Les Clos, Vaudesir, Valmur, Blanchot, les Preuses, Grenouille, Bougros), all grouped together in the same well-defined geographical area. Rich and generous, harmonious and long, they must be "expected" three to four years to express all their greatness. They will age ten years for the good years, fifteen years and more for the great years. Chablis Grand Cru is located on the right bank of the Serein (river that crosses the vineyard), in the northeast of the city, between 100 and 250 meters above the sea level. Soil composed of calcareous marl, very rich in tiny fossil oysters (Exogyra virgula). The land dates back to the Upper Jurassic, formed 150 million years ago. This is the largest and most famous Grand Cru; its fame based on its history as one of the Chablis’ first vineyards. The appellation enjoys a southerly aspect with a very white, dense and deep clay soil. Tasting notes: Beautiful brilliant and deep robe, golden yellow with green reflections. Pleasant nose, with subtle aromas of dried flowers (lime blossom, white lilac) and ripe white flesh fruits (peach, pear). Characterized by a beautiful structure at the attack (freshness and roundness), this Grand Cru Les Clos develops delicate aromas of small fried fruits, white peach and fine spices on the finish.
