Description
96 points James Suckling
"Perfume and darkness meet in your glass. A fabulous village-level wine that's so suave and sensuous. Everything fits together so beautifully. Super-long and silky finish. A cuvee of wine from two separate plots, one in the extreme north, the other in the extreme south of the appellation. Drink or hold."
Jancis Robinson
"50% whole bunch and one-third new oak.
Mid cherry red. Bright red-fruited aroma, more cranberry in its impression of freshness. The stems showing in a light herbal note. Stems adding to the tannins on the palate, too, but they are so polished. Needs more time than some to silkify. Pure and deep with a touch of oak spice and sweetness on the very end. Impressive depth of fruit and great length. 17.5/20 points. (JH)"
Vinous Reverie Notes
The village is located at the heart of the Cote de Nuits, between Vougeot and Nuits-Saint-Georges. The vines grow at an ideal altitude of approximately 250 meters and cover just over 150 ha. The plot from which this cuvee comes is called “Les Vigneux”. It is located in the northern part of the village, in the extension of the valley on a gentle slope and near the Grand Cru Romanée-Saint-Vivant. Soils: Limestone and marl scree. Average age of the vines: 48 years old. Tasting Notes: With its brilliant garnet-red color, the wine reveals luscious aromas of strawberries, raspberries and slightly herbaceous notes of whole harvest. On the palate, structured yet silky tannins and woody flavors are evident. Great ageing potential!
