Description

95 points James Suckling
"Stacks of forest berries and spices on the deep and complex nose. Enormously concentrated for a non-premier cru, yet the palate remains medium-bodied. And just when you think you’ve got everything it has to give, the earthy and spicy finish pours over you like a great wave. Two-thirds from a vineyard planted in 1902. 50% whole cluster. Drinkable now, but best from 2025."

Jancis Robinson
"Vineyard planted 1902 and officially the oldest vineyard in Burgundy, according to winemaker Grégory Patriat. 70% of the vines are from the original planting. 50% whole bunch, indigenous yeasts.
Light to mid crimson. Fragrant with dark-red fruit, fresh and stemmy but not too much so. Intense cherry fruit and remarkable concentration. Deep fruit, so fresh and the tannins perfectly modulated. Long and intense with moreish spice and sweet-savoury finish. 17/20 points. (JH)"

Vinous Reverie Notes
Located near Beaune, Aloxe-Corton and Savigny-Les-Beaune, Chorey-Les-Beaune lies at the bottom of the slope. Though it has only recently gained recognition (1969), Chorey-Les-Beaune is a unique appellation as 2/3 of its vines are planted on the flatlands. Located at the foot of the hill and above the national road. This climate is made up of 2 different plots. It is certainly the difference in height between the parcels bearing this name and the village below on flat land, that is evoked in the second word of this place name: mont. No doubt Beau is the qualifying adjective that highlights the quality of these parcels and of the wine produced on this slope! Soils: red marls indicating the presence of iron and small limestone scree. Average age of the vines: 100 years old for 1 plot and thirty years old for the other one. Tasting Notes: Adorned with a beautiful dark red color. This wine reveals a powerful bouquet of intense black fruits, dried flowers and mineral notes. On the palate, the wine is round and warm, with a slightly woody finish.
