Description
97 points James Suckling
"This dares to be super-elegant and refined for an appellation that's presumed to give only big and brawny wines, and he who dares wins. The red berry fruit is interwoven with smoke, earth and grilled artichokes. Sleek and medium-bodied, muscular like a marathon runner, but without any hint of the stress that racing a marathon brings with it. I love that untypical silkiness in the finish. Drink or hold."
Jancis Robinson
"50% whole bunch and one-third new oak.
Mid cherry red. Less open than the Vosne-Romanée just tasted. Peppery and definitely spiced with a touch of oak and stems all tangled up in the aroma. A dark beauty as it opens in the glass. So elegant, embryonic and yet refined already. Fresh, appears subtle, and it is, but it's also powerful and long. 18/20 points. (JH)"
Vinous Reverie Notes
Composed of 25 different climats, the Grand Cru Corton is an emblematic figure of Burgundy. It extends over three villages: Aloxe-Corton, Ladoix-Serrigny and Pernand-Vergelesses. Each climate has its own personality. "Les Renardes" is located on the village of Aloxe-Corton, on a gently sloping plot. The vines are aged on average 45. "The Foxes" takes its name from the word Fox. This animal, lover of small game, is very present in Burgundy. The other hypothesis is that the parcel belonged to a family called Renard, a very common family name. Tasting Notes: With its dazzling ruby color, this wine reveals intense aromas of red fruits, sweet spices and notes of whole harvest. The palate is racy, very fresh, with a sensual finish.
