"Slate, gunpowder smoke, incense – a nose that focuses extremely on minerals. Also orange blossom and lemon zest. In the mouth, the wine has a quiet balance, sweetness dominating a little over acidity, but tactile minerality gives life and energy to the wine. Has large extract reserves!"

"The 2022 Riesling Niederhäuser Klamm Kabinett is on volcanic soils of porphyry. This is a vineyard that used to belong to an extended family. It was repurchased and is now vinified as a single site. The nose is of serene citrus. The palate is rich like lemon oil, concentrated, flowing and mouth-watering. Lemon fills the mouth, serene, yet with an inherent playfulness. All the fruit plays first fiddle for now, but the stone underneath just waits its turn. The 2022 is glorious, balanced and bright. (Medium)."

Vinous Reverie Notes
The Klamm, a Grosse Lage site, is situated directly adjacent to the Hermannshöhle. Its name is a very old word to describe the landscape, alluding to an incision in the craggy cliffs above. These vineyards are among the steepest found anywhere in the region, with extremely stony soils heavily comprised of porphyry mixed with slate.
