"Deep purple hued with a classic Syrah nose of ripe black fruits, game, violets, and peppery notes, the 2022 Côtes Du Rhône Villages Vaison-La-Romaine Shyrus hits the palate with medium to full body, ripe yet building tannins, a good sense of freshness, and outstanding length. It's going to need a few years of bottle age, but it should be outstanding."

Charles Long first purchased land outside Saint Roman de Malegarde after returning from World War I. His son, Raymond, expanded the vineyards once he started full-time in the business and today, Raymond’s sons Bruno (the winemaker) and Daniel (the vineyard manager) are the 3rd generation. Varietal Composition: 100% Syrah. This wine comes from their estate vineyard in Saint-Roman-De-Malegarde. Its exposure on the North side of the hill offers a magnificent freshness. The vineyard of Saint-Roman-De-Malegarde contains chalky clay-limestone slopes, with a North-West exposure. This Cuvée is elaborated with a selection of the most healthy and ripe Syrah of their vineyard. Tasting Notes: This wine has a deep garnet color with purple highlights. The first nose is complex and after a slight aeration it emerges aromas of black berries compote and candied cherry. In the mouth, we detect a beautiful acidity with tannins well present and structured. This wine offers aromas of black fruit and toasty notes on the finish.
