Description
Jancis Robinson
"Full bottle 1,336 g.
Broad, honeysuckle, clementine and spices on the nose. Juicy fruit, drawing from the clementine on the nose, adding Seville-orange zest, and the broad brushstroke of spice taking on the more precise flavours of liquorice, cinnamon, clove. Curved and rich in a way that reminds me a bit of South African Chenin. A sense of richness despite the relatively low alcohol. This is rather unusual for a Bourgogne, but very rewarding, long and VGV *very good value*. 17/20 points. (TC)"
Vinous Reverie Notes
Santenay marks the southern tip of the Cote d’Or. It shares a border with Chassagne. Geologically, it overlaps the Cote de Nuits. This makes it a fascinating point of intersection of terroir, tradition, and evolution. Over the past century, Santenay has gone from being a stronghold for pinot noir to a carveout for chardonnay. 100% from the “Lavau” parcel in Santenay, where there is a predominance of chalk in the soil and very little topsoil, this chardonnay is fermented in 100% oak, with 10-20% new from Chassin and Rousseau coopers. All of the vineyards have been organically farmed since 2009 and Ecocert® certified since 2012.
