Curly St James, "Ostentatious Parlay" Red Blend Napa Valley 2013

Vinous Reverie Notes
A tiny production of less than 130 cases per year, the grapes are harvested from the steep volcanic hillsides of the Mayacamas Mountain range in Napa.  A  50/50 blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc with 18 months of French oak, 75% new.  With the wine being nearly 10 years old the fruit has faded to the background, highlighting the leather, cassis, raw chocolate, and violets.  Firmly structured with the aged tannins releasing dusty blackberries, plums, sage, rosemary, and lavender giving the wine a sense of place.
