Description
94 Jeb Dunnuck
"Based on Grenache, Carignan, and Syrah, the 2020 Côtes Du Roussillon Villages Compartir is another deep purple-hued release from this château revealing a great nose of both cassis and darker berry-like fruit as well as spice, peppery herbs, chalky mineral, and licorice. This big, rich, heady effort has full-bodied richness, a supple, layered texture, fabulous purity of fruit, and a great finish. Drink bottles over the coming 4-6 years or so."
Jancis Robinson
"Certified organic (Ecocert and AB). Compartir means to share. Mostly Grenache Noir with some Carignan and Syrah. Partly vinifed in concrete and part in 500-litre open barrels for six weeks. Aged separately, blended at end.
Chocolate and cherries. Amazingly sweet fruit – a huge hug of a wine singing its heart out. But there is also graphite, the sensation of a pencil drawing a long line. Like the sketch and etch of a tree against a winter sky but with the red gleam of a Christmas-tree bauble bringing glow and curves and gleam. 17.5/20 points. (TC)"
Vinous Reverie Notes
Blend: Grenache, Syrah, Carignan. The vineyard terroir for Compartir consists of brown Schists on the Maury terroirs. Philippe Bourrier is a pioneer in organic viticulture and Chateau de L’Ou is a certified organic farming operation. They pay close attention to the life of the soil, allowing good deep development of the roots to promote the best expression of the terroirs. Tasting Notes: On the nose it is an explosion of ripe fruit and spices; the palate is delicate, silky and tasty with the same notes.
