“Orange tint to the pale red. Extraordinary nose, like walking through a pine forest after the rain. Fine tannins and a gentle plumpness to the palate. Good acidity and a mineral note on the finish. Ethereal stuff, a beautiful Grenache. Grown on sand in Pignan nord, no destemming and a very light extraction, matured in demi-muids for 24 months. 3,200 bottles produced.”

Medium to full-bodied, it's silky-textured, sappy, slightly green-tinged, refreshing and long on the finish."

Tasted blind. Eucalyptus, rosemary and crushed red fruits – a mineral, chalky note beneath as well. Good, fresh acidity and a real floral touch to the mid palate too. Vinous Reverie Notes
Le Grand Pin comes from very small parcels of all Grenache, from the part of the lieu-dit Pignan that adjoins the vines of Chateau Rayas. Vines are 40 to 100 years old, certified organic and entirely hand-harvested. Whole-cluster traditional fermentation occurs in concrete tank with only indigenous yeasts then aged entirely in 4-7 year used demi-muid barrels. Aside from the ideal wine-making decisions and exceptional terroir, a huge take away is the extraordinary low yields.
