Description

90 points Stephen Tanzer
"Pale yellow-gold. Reticent nose hints at clove, smoked meat and honey. Sweet and glyceral but given life by firm acidity. Youthfully closed but the corpulent yellow fruit and spice flavors are already obvious. Denser, deeper and longer than the 2004 version, and sweeter and more nuanced on the back end."

18/20 points Gault & Millau

Vinous Reverie Notes
Winery: Domaine Barmès-Buecher produces wines that are a true reflection of their vineyards, thanks to high-quality grapes, grown with care and respect. The wines reflect the delicate relationship that connects the vine, terroir, vintage and man. We therefore prefer to use manual growing practices in order to respect the vine and terroir and to limit the amount of mechanical work carried out in the vineyards by using lightweight machinery to reduce the effects of soil compaction. Each bottle bears the stamp of its climat (Steingrubler) in keeping with generations of family tradition. The vineyards at Domaine Barmès-Buecher are certified as biodynamically grown. This very specific growing method places an emphasis on respecting the terroir and the natural environment. The land and the vineyards are considered as living beings and, at the domaine, their needs are paramount. This approach considers the environment, as a whole, to be an essential and vital element in the quality of a wine. The wine grower nurtures his/her environment and stimulates the life forces that make it up. Biodynamic growing adheres to the founding principles of organic agriculture, such as prohibiting the use of chemical and synthetic products. However, biodynamic practices go one step further by respecting the environment and the interactions of the terroir on a deeper level by stimulating the life forces using biodynamic preparations. Special attention is paid to the lunar calendar, particularly with respect to when certain work is carried out in the vineyards or winery. The Domaine is a member of Biodyvin, a union of wine producers who manage their domaines using only biodynamic practices. Domaine Barmès-Buecher is also a member of the Renaissance des Appellations group which aims to promote the expression of AOCs by adhering to a biodynamic approach to winemaking. In its quest for excellence, Domaine Barmès-Buecher is constantly seeking ways to improve the production process. We are open to, and on the look-out for, the best vinification methods in order to respect the intrinsic qualities of our wines.
