Description
94 points Jasper Morris
"A deeper crimson purple, and definitely a greater weight of fruit on the nose. A burst of fruit on the attack, going through to the back of the palate, a little orange rind note alongside the deep red berry fruit, good acidity, well managed tannins and persistent."
93 points Allen Meadows, Burghound
"A discreet application of wood sets off attractively layered aromas of plum, earth, floral nuances and subtle spice hints. There is lovely richness and punch to the well-detailed mineral-inflected flavors that possess a mouth coating and mildly austere finish that delivers excellent persistence. This is more powerful if less refined than the Fuées that also offers fine development potential."
Jancis Robinson
"0.7 ha (1.7 acres) just above Bonnes Mares and in thick clay soils. Average vine age 70 years, oldest planted in 1947. 25% new oak. Tank sample.
Deep-mid ruby. Luxurious colour – like velvet! Red and black fruits, black raspberry, cassis with some ground-black-pepper spice. Very concentrated with just a hint of minty freshness in the middle. Almost a total change in style, this is so rich and complex. Refined, integrated powdery tannins. Spot on! 17/20 points. (MH)"
