"Fine fragrance of peaches and apricots. Quite sweet on the palate, but the fruit was picked early enough to retain just the right amount of acidity to produce a fresh and lively performance. Quite approachable now, not over-elaborated, showing good balance and length. 17.5/20 points. (MS)"
Vinous Reverie Notes
Together with the Rüdesheimer Berg Schlossberg the vineyard Rüdesheimer Berg Rottland is considered as the best site of Rüdesheim. The name comes from the word "rotten" (= to clear undergrowth) from the 11th century. The 34 ha facing south and south-east are sloping 30% and are spread west of the town of Rüdesheim. Heavily weathered deep quarzite from the Taunus region with traces of loess. Good water storing capability. Tasting Notes: Wines like this Spätlese carry the fame of German Riesling wines into the world. It has a enchanting flavor which is dominated by peach - and ananas notes. The promise made by the bouquet is kept in the mouth. Juicy, fresh, mineral with seductive sweet airiness it does not only elate Riesling fans. A world class wine with great potential for a very reasonable price. Food Pairing: Goes perfectly with hot seasoned food or with sweet and fruity dishes like duck with orange gravy. Enjoy with medium tasty cheese.
