Description
Jancis Robinson
"With a name like solid rock (Felsenfest), your imagination is already in the grip of minerality and so it’s no wonder the nose is almost forced to sneeze with stone dust, but the odd flower has settled on the rocks too. Holy moly on the palate, how does one convert rock into liquid minerality? And Daniel Vollenweider does not spare the acidity either. This is tactile, gravelly, dry Riesling that grabs you by the palate. Of course there is some fruit too and you may have guessed it already: stone fruit. 17/20 points. (MS)"
Vinous Reverie Notes
Winery: The mostly unconsolidated parcels are spread across six hectares on the steep moselle slopes. their generally very old, ungrafted Riesling vines provide us with dry, sweet, and noble sweet wines belonging among the top of the region‘s produce, impressively demonstrating the potential of the slopes around the traditional wine-trading city traben-trarbach. We aim for distinct wines which nevertheless show the influences of terroir and vintage. respect for the interconnections of nature with acceptance and understanding for the effects of external factors on the vines is the basis of our work. Felsenfest: a sophisticated wine both for everyday enjoyment and gastronomy, grown on selected steep slopes surrounding traben-trarbach.
