La Capilla was Viu Manent's first incursion in Colchagua outside its historic zone, San Carlos. The first vines were planted at La Capilla in the early 1990s, and the cabernet has given some of the best results on those volcanic soils. There's nerve and freshness in this cabernet, lots of ripe red fruit, and a delicious layer of herbal tones that add complexity. But the best thing is its structure and texture of fine, abundant, and firm tannins. A cabernet to take to the table with a generous portion of beans and chorizo. 2020 Vintage

The 2020 La Capilla Single Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon has a restrained 13.7% alcohol and comes from a rare terroir of silt and volcanic ash, low-yielding and with a textured mouthfeel with very fine-grained tannins, which they say is similar to the texture of the soil, a lot thinner than the grainy tannins from the Cabernet in Maipo.

This Single Vineyard comes from the La Capilla vineyard in Peralillo and is planted on soils of alluvial origin with very low natural fertility and a high proportion of silt, sand, and volcanic ash. The unique character of this terroir lends the wine very clear fruity notes, tremendous minerality and elegance, and a texture of fine grain tannins on the palate.
"Cherry red in color. The perfumed nose presents layer after layer of aromas that recall fresh red fruits, cherries, blackcurrants, tobacco, and a subtle spice note. The ample, complex, vibrant, and richly textured palate expresses its origin. The wine also has great depth and is very pleasing to drink."
