Description
94 points Decanter
"This is The Society's bestselling Greek red, and no wonder. It's incredible value, and a brilliant introduction to the Xinomavro grape. Juicy, approachable and fresh, serve it lightly chilled and enjoy the cranberry, cherry and tomato leaf flavours. There's no oak here (it's aged in a mix of stainless steel and concrete), just an uncomplicated, joyful fruit purity.”
Jancis Robinson
"Transparent ruby. Really interesting, distinctive, sweet ‘ashy’ nose with great balance and something floral too. Dusty finish that is far from unpleasant. Concrete effect on the grainy texture. This wine is really lively with minimal tannic effect at this stage. This would be a great teaching aid for the grape variety. VGV *very good value* 16.5/20 points."
Vinous Reverie Notes
This 100% Xinomavro is a blend of higher altitude vineyards around the village of Fyteia and the warmer, lower elevation vineyards adjacent to the village of Trilofos. All wines are fermented with wild yeast, and raised without any contact with oak. Fragrant aromas of fresh red fruits, herbs and an elegant vegetal character. Crisp acidity balances the richness of the body. The aftertaste is complex and long. Pairs perfectly with lamb, complements red meat, stew, grilled steaks, sausages, coq au vin, aged gouda or cheddar.
