"On the nose, this delivers incisive notes of cress to complement scents of orange, grapefruit and apple. The palate, while subtly and flatteringly creamy in texture, picks up pep and bright juiciness from just over nine grams of acidity, translating into an animation, clarity and refreshment not approached by any other wine in the St. Urbans-Hof 2016 collection. Add a mouthwatering lick of salt, plus the continued invigoration of cress, and you have a superb advertisement for the stimulating, tonic-like virtues of Saar and specifically Bockstein Riesling. (This features fruit from the so-called Zickelgarten sector of Bockstein, a monopole that has been inscribed on selected past Urbans-Hof labels, but not that of this wine.)"
"There is no such thing as 'only' a Kabinett when it comes to the heady fragrance of the Bockstein, which brings together the finest of local fruit and – although it’s hard to extract single constituents – gooseberry, peach and apricot lead the charge. The true art is to transcribe this fruity melee to the palate in a light and lively manner befitting a first-class Kabinett. At St Urban-Hof they manage that with ease, adding the merest spritz to a charming sweetness, a citrusy acidity keeping an animating influence on the finish. 17/20 points. (MS)"
