"Laurence Féraud blends this wine from three different vintages and an unorthodox arrray of grapes grown in and around Châteauneuf, focusing on Grenache and Syrah but including Merlot and others. This rendition is particularly tannic, with a grip that make it hard to get to the flavors for an entire day. But once the tannins relax, it's intriguing and compelling, with spice-market scents and a smoky, brooding intensity of red and purple fruit. Give this time in the cellar to relax before drawing it out for a beefy, mushrooom-enriched braise."

"Feraud's NV Vin de France Plan Pegau Lot #15-16-17 is produced from Pegau-owned plots outside Châteauneuf du Pape. The multi-vintage blend includes varieties not entitled to be grown in Rhône appellations (like Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon), but also includes about one-third each of Grenache and Syrah. It offers strongly floral-herbal and sometimes leathery elements that mark it as Pegau, silky layers of dark fruit and a dry, savory finish. If you're curious about the Pegau style but don't want to drop the coin required for the flagship CdP, Plan Pegau is the way to go."
Vinous Reverie Notes
Owned by father and daughter team Paul and Laurence Féraud, Domaine du Pégau is one of the great estates in Châteauneuf-du-Pape. The benchmark producer of traditionally-styled Châteauneuf, Pégau is justifiably ranked among the greatest wines in the world. This cuvee is produced from estate-grown fruit planted just outside Châteauneuf-du-Pape, this distinctive, multi-vintage blend is loaded with character and reflects the hallmark personality and style of Pegau. Tasting Notes: This rich, meaty red captures the essence of the Southern Rhône Valley, with layers of red and dark fruit character, soft supple tannins, and complex spice notes from extended aging in small oak barrels. Offers a true and loud echo of the traditional Pegau style and profile, and is the “little brother” of the Domaine du Pegau Cuvée Réservée Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Food Pairing: Enjoy with game, hearty stews, and grilled meats.
