91 points Wine Spectator
"This medium- to full-bodied red has a round, burly quality to the tannins, which are well-meshed overall, providing a chewy frame for flavors of dried strawberry and cranberry fruit, violet and ground anise. Offers a fresh, mineral-laced finish. Drink now through 2026."

"Strawberry, smoke and alpine herb aromas follow over to the linear, elegant palate along with a hints of coffee bean and rusty nail. Bright acidity and polished tannins provide the framework."
"Lustrous mid ruby. Spicy, concentrated red-fruit nose with proper depth and hints of liquorice. Lively yet concentrated red-fruit palate interwoven with fine powdery tannins and supported by a subtle oak note. Succulent and elegant at the same time. Long and understated. 17.5/20 points. (WS)"
Eight Of The Best Values In Italian Wine Right Now
"Made in Northern Italy’s Valetellina, where the vineyards are so steep the grapes are harvested by helicopter, the term Inferno makes reference to the region’s dramatic temperature fluctuations which have a significant impact on grape ripening. –Here, Nebbiolo evolves with soft black cherry notes, hints of rose petal, prominent tannins and a structure built by fierce growing conditions... this silky Italian wine drinks like a much more expensive bottle."
Vinous Reverie Notes
The Nino Negri Inferno is sourced from the best crus of the Inferno subzones of Calvario, Sopragironi, Sottogironi and Ca Rossa. Grapes are densely cultivated high on the terraced hillside in poor, sandy soils and a due-south exposure. Grapes are hand-harvested in early October and transported to the winery where they are sorted and macerated at cold temperatures for five days in stainless steel vats. Aging occurs over a period of 20-24 months in a combination of 80hl and smaller 50hl French oak barrels. Tasting Notes: Inferno is deep garnet in color with a well pronounced perfume of spice, dried flowers, plum and jam. On the palate the wine is full-bodied and dry with elegant notes of berry, herb, cedar-spice.
