Description
Jancis Robinson
"Mid crimson. Contained concentration on the nose of sour cherry and raspberry with a typical spicy Sangiovese note and saline hints, like capers. Supple and succulent with great tannic grip, but really finely built. Aromatic, grainy raspberry fruit and with a taut, lifted finish. A wine that makes you think of Pinot Noir. Real personality and not once does your mind wander off to Tuscany. Ready now. 17+/20 points. (WS)"
Vinous Reverie Notes
Tramazzo is the central valley at Modigliana: it opens towards higher ground and continues as far as Tredozio. The soils here are a mix of marl and sandstone and contain a small but significant percentage of red and ochre clays. The height of the vineyards – at over 600 meters – confers great elegance to the Sangiovese here. Tasting Notes: The nose is balsamic – with herbal notes of oregano, Helichrysum, sage and eucalyptus – and the palate is delicate and deep. A wine of finesse and energy. The noble green tannins mature with time, guaranteeing exceptional complexity to this wine.
