92 points Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate
“A blend of 40% Syrah, 35% Grenache and 25% Carignan, aged mostly in barrel, the 2017 Duche d’Uzes Volcae is rich and ripe, dominated by black cherries. Full-bodied and velvety, it finishes long and plush, picking up attractive hints of licorice. It's a terrific value to drink over the next decade.”
Vinous Reverie Notes
Mas de Volques takes its name from the remains of Volques Arecomiques, an ancient Gaulois village that at one time controlled a vast area stretching from northern Spain to Macedonia. The vineyards are a mix of clay and limestone, located at the foothills of the Cevennes mountains. Unusual for Southern Rhone, this blend highlights the distinctive Syrah grown on the property.
