95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
"Compared to the 2015 vintage that I tasted at the same time, the 2016 Barbaresco Martinenga is slightly more saturated and concentrated in terms of appearance. This wine shows a dense inner core with dark fruit flavors, tannins and lively acidity that will continue to find integration as the wine moves forward in time. In fact, compared to the 2015 vintage, my bet is this wine will enjoy a much longer bottle evolution."

"This is hightoned and floral, its tangy red berry flavors gracefully framed by precise, fine-grained tannins. The wine rested for its first year in French oak barriques followed by another year in large Slavonian casks, gaining notes of warm spice and toasted nuts that add depth to the bright fruit tones. This vibrant wine has a long life ahead of it yet is hard to resist now."

"Another beautiful Barbaresco with bright florals, ranging from fresh hibiscus to fruit tea and raspberries. Fresh stems and a mowed-lawn note are also somewhere in the mix. The same transparency cuts through with brilliant minerality on the full-bodied palate and firm, slicing tannins. Drink from 2021."
"Barbaresco. Tasted blind. Concentrated mid ruby. Lifted and rich at the same time. Sweet maraschino cherry palate with fantastic acidity and plenty of chewy tannins. Rich and long, and with spectacular balance. 17.5/20 points. (WS)"
Vinous Reverie Notes
Situated in the Commune of Barbaresco, Martinenga Barbaresco takes its name from the vineyard. Vines are planted 280 meters above sea level with south-facing exposure. Fruit undergoes natural fermentation with daily pump-overs and completes full malolactic fermentation. The wine ages in 225 liter French barriques for 3 months, then in Slavonian oak casks for 12 months followed by a maturation in bottle for another 12 months.
