91 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
"The red 2016 Laderas de Leonila was harmonious with contained ripeness, serious and fresh, with something feral-like that made it a little mysterious. It had a medium-bodied palate with fine-grained tannins and clean and focused flavors. Very tasty."
Jancis Robinson
"Mencía from Bierzo.
Pronounced waxy nose with notes of freshly baked bread (dough) and subtle liquorice and dark fruits. Fresh acidity followed by finely tuned tannins with a very nice salinity. These wines are so vibrant and exciting. This feels really light on its feet, gliding across the palate effortlessly – like Fred Astaire on the dance floor. A joy to drink and such good value too. 17/20 points. (AC)"
Vinous Reverie Notes
Laderas de Leonilla comes from a 4 ha vineyard tucked away close to the western border of Bierzo in the Sil valley near Corullón. This steep, north-facing site on clay and slate soils is primarily Mencia with smaller plantings of Garnacha and Doña Blanca.
