Product Description
94 points James Suckling
"Licorice, lemon zest and lemon balm on the nose. Even though trocken - the German word for dry - is not on the label, this dry riesling is very elegant and super straight. A very long and crisp mineral finish. Better from 2019, but it shows excellent aging potential."
Vinous Reverie Notes
Maximin Klosterlay. In medieval times the Benedictine abbey St. Maximin was the leading winery along the Mosel. One of the best sites of the abbey was the Maximin Klosterlay. Eventually during the secularization under Napoleon the property was sold and one of our ancestors was able to buy vineyards in the Maximiner Klosterlay. Upon this blue slate soil our winery was founded. The sun directly faces the vineyard and a Mosel lock provides a huge water area directly at the bottom of the Maximin Klosterlay. The wines show an enormous length paired with a mineral structure and elegant aromas.
