Description
94 points Wine Enthusiast
"Dark berries, purple flowers and toasty spices make for a smoothly integrated nose on this bottling from a vineyard along the San Simeon coast that gets the “last light” of each day. There's a solid tension to the sip, which frames the ripe and accessible yet tart red fruits, with aromatic lavender touches lifting the entire experience."
Vinous Reverie Notes
Winery: Our flagship Pinot and the wine that started it all. Extreme farming from the most coastal vineyard in California. Perfumed aromas of pomegranite, black tea, and snap pea are up front. Stem inclusion lends earthy spice as well as some grip. Within the larger San Luis Obispo County AVA lies the Derbyshire Vineyard. Located in San Simeon, the vineyard abuts Hearst Castle and is the closest vineyard to the Pacific Ocean to be commercially farmed. This location represents the ultimate in extreme cool climate viticulture.
