Description
93 Points Wine Advocate
"The 2019 Chiroubles Aux Craz derives from a quite different spot: higher in altitude, south-facing as opposed to east-facing and richer in rock rather than sand. It's the most mineral, ethereal wine in the range, bursting with aromas of peonies, blood orange, rose and strawberry. Medium-bodied, satiny and precise, with lively acids, melting tannins and a saline finish, it's showing beautifully." —William Kelley, (August 2021)
91 Points James Suckling
Plenty of bright red cherry, married to a medium body with a certain creaminess, as well as the freshness that’s traditionally associated with Beaujolais, in ite of the warm vintage, thanks to the high altitude location. Good length and food-friendly personality. Drink now. (Apr 2021)
Vinous Reverie Notes
This is a southeastern facing site at the highest elevation in Chiroubles at 460 meters with decomposed granitic rock soil. Most of the vines in this vineyard are around 70 years old. The must undergoes semi-carbonic maceration without SO2 and is aged in concrete "beton" for 11 months without racking. Bottled unfined and unfiltered.
