Description

"This wine is an even blend of Grenache, Syrah, Carignan and Mourvèdre. It offers a dynamic and layered palate of blackberry, rhubarb and cassis liquor over a persistent layer of dried cranberries, fines herbes and black peppercorn, with a stony finish. It is quite impressive and accessible after a short decant."
1-Star Hachette Guide (Very successful)
"Named after the two centuries-old oak trees that mark the entrance to the plot, this Cairanne combines equal parts Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre and Carignan, the latter being the only one to be aged in wood. It offers an elegant bouquet of forest fruits and oleander, extending into a juicy, supple and long palate, structured by velvety tannins. Already tasty, this bottle can wait a few years in the cellar."
Vinous Reverie Notes
Cairanne has been an official cru within the Cotes du Rhone since 2016, putting it on par with other well-known crus such as Chateauneuf-du-Pape, Gigondas and Vacqueyras. La Bastide Saint Dominique has 8 hectares of vineyards in this cru. They are planted with 15-50 year old vines, consisting of: Syrah, Grenache, Carignan and Mourvèdre. Tasting Notes: Nose of wild strawberries and redcurrants mixed with rose and peony. Crisp palate, with notes of crushed raspberries and blackcurrant buds, supported by a beautiful volume and sharp tannins.
